All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!
Now It's Time for Action >
Make a Change!
Our Earth is deteriorating as we know it and we humans are destroying the Earth with our every day activities. The planet is over heating and the database "Global Climate Change" reports that the oceans are acidifying, the ice caps are melting, sea levels are rising, there are extreme changes in the climate, and more! We must make a change now in how we live our lives - and there are many simple ways that we can do this at our homes: eat less red meat, take shorter showers, carpool/ride bikes/public transportation, turn the lights off and use natural light, etc. As you can see there are many ways that we can improve our carbon footprint and help the Earth stay healthy and clean of pollutants.

Alex- I agree, eating less red meat, taking shorter showers and carpooling definitely would help climate change. Also installing solar panels and wind turbines are other options although they are more expensive.
I agree! There are so many easy changes that we can make within our own homes and families that can result in ending this crisis. We can all easily reduce our Carbon Footprint by taking public transportation, especially in the area were we live which is so heavily public transportation oriented with Bart and busing. Reducing the amount of meat we are killing in mass numbers for food can also help tremendously, cutting out beef from a daily meal plan and replacing it with a substitute can help change the state off our earth! Everything you stated in this post can be easily cut from our everyday lives!

I agree as well. There are many ways we can help reduce our carbon footprints. For starters what we should all implement into our lives is meatless Mondays every week. Meatless Mondays would be great for reducing our carbon dioxide emissions because everybody can do it they do not have to become completely vegan to save the planet. This will decrease the meat that is being manufactured especially beef because cows produce a lot of methane emissions. Cows are especially the worse because on average a cow releases between 70 and 120kg of Methane per year. Methane is a greenhouse gas like CO2, but methane is 23 times more effective in the raising of global warming. I also agree with Erin's point which was using public transportation more often. Public transportation reduces are green house gas emissions immensely because instead of driving separate cars to work we will only have to ride one big transportation system. Public transportation will make a huge difference because 95% of all carbon dioxide released is from transportation.

Alex, I completely agree with what you wrote. Greenhouse gas emission is destroying the Earth and we do need to make change now. I agree with all your ideas about how to take action and try and help the environment. There are so many simple ways to help the environment and you did a great job teaching people what they can do to help. I personally am going to try and help the environment by doing these simple tasks. I am already a vegetarian which helps reduce my carbon footprint. However, I am also going to work on taking shorter showers, turning off my lights when I am not using them, and more. I hope by doing these things I can help the environment and making a change.
I totally agree with you Alex! I also want to make a change in my actions to prevent these activities that destroy the Earth. I find it touching that you want to reduce your footprint by eating less red meat and taking shorter showers. I am inspired by your methods and take them into consideration before making any choices that affect the environment. We all should reflect on our decisions and try to make a change for the better!
Alex i have to say that i am on your side and i agree with you. I think that everyone should give more effort to reducing their carbon footprint because we are destroying our Earth, and there is only one. If everybody just took shorther showers and maybe use less electricity we would already see a difference in carbon footprint. But the problem is alot of people don't care and mostly don't know how big of a damage they are doing to our precious Earth. We should do more to inform public about climate change and carbon footprint so people get educated about the real problems of our planet. I can't say for myself that i had always cared for Earth but few years ago i started taking much shorter showers and i dont use much electrcity as i used to instead i use sunlight. Furthermore i will try to give more effort to reducing my carbon footprint because it start's with us. It's funny how most of the leader think that money is the real issue but once we deplet our resources they will see the truth.
I agree with you at some point but I think that the all goverments in the world should make the laws in which we have to use electric transportation. Well we should produce less meat, when I say meat I think about all the meat and that we should base our nutrition on vegetarian food. That way we are creating a healthier environment for the planet Earth and also there would less obesed people in the world.
I agree completely. If we as a human race want to stop climate change, that starts with us. Everyone has to do their part to help save this Earth because if we do not, the consequences will be dire. Everyone can make sure to not leave lights on or use any unneeded electricity, and everyone should do their best to carpool or use public transportation so reduce our carbon footprint.
