All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

Plastic bags
Do you know that the plastic shopping bags are one of the major source of waste and pollution in our society? We all know that they are very convenient and useful, but we also all know that they present many problems to the world. So, why don’t we try to stop to use it or at least don’t we try to reduce their use? I’m convinced that if we start to change some of our habits, we will contribute to reduce the pollution in the world. Plastic pollution can afflict land, waterways and oceans. The numbers are scary. Consider that as of 2018, about 380 million tons of plastic is produced worldwide each year. From the 1950s up to 2018, an estimated 6.3 billion tons of plastic has been produced worldwide. Only a small part of it is recycled and unfortunately the remainder is going to landfills. Even some researches suggest that by 2050 there could be more plastic than fish in the oceans by weight. This large amount of plastic waste inevitably enters the environment and that is for example the reason why the bodies of 90% of seabirds contain plastic debris. Also the sea turtles hav e been fund to contain large proportion of plastics in their stomach. When this occurs, the animal typically starves, because the plastic blocks the animal’s digestive tract. Plastic debris has been responsible for the deaths of many marine organisms, such as fish, seals, turtles and birds.
When I read articles on this subject, I promised myself to stop using plastic bags and I to start to raise awareness among my family and my friends. I’m convinced that we can live well even without plastic bags or other plastic materials and I really hope that you will start to do the same, so that we can give our small contribution to improve the world.
