Now It's Time for Action!

All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.

Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?

Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

I would really like to change my habits. Plastic is used very often in my household. If I could, I’d want to persuade my family into using only cloth grocery bags. Our family often goes to the supermarket three times every week and gets up to 15 plastic bags. Furthermore, I usually use the shower for at least 30 minutes minimum and after hearing about how showers should be less than 10 minutes I was surprised. Shortening the amount of time and even shutting off the water as I wash my hair with shampoo or conditioner is much better.

I agree with using reusable bags, but for me, my family drives in 3 different cars in some cases and we could help a lot by carpooling and riding together, and this could help us reduce our carbon footprint.

I agree. I just want to say another reason why climate change is a problem. The health of t people is decreasing as carbon and greenhouse gas levels increase daily. In a news article written on MAy 9, 2018 called "Earth has crossed a scary threshold for the first time in more than 800,000 years, and it could lead to tens of thousands of deaths", it states that for the first time in 8,000,000 years, the carbon level has topped 410 ppm. It is scientifically proven that the carbon increase in the atmosphere has lessened human cognitive capabilities, which means that the brain is slowly deteriorating from the increase in greenhouse gases. It also increases the chance of having a deadly heat stroke. Ozone pollution can kill about 22,000 people who have respiratory illnesses, asthma, and emphysema. The ozone pollution can also cause lung cancer, asthma, and cardiovascular diseases.
