All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!
Now It's Time for Action >
Take Action!
Nowadays, with our constant use of social media, I've been seeing many posts about climate change and political awareness. All of these are very inspiring, educational, relevant, and interesting to learn about, however, I feel like we need to do more. Posting on social media may spread the news about a horrible event that took place, but what do we do from there? We need to be taking our new knowledge out into the world and using it to make bigger changes. There are many ways that we may view as insignificant or small, but they do make a difference. Signing a petition you see online that you support, voting in the elections (if of age), sending an email to a representative or even going to talk in person, and so much more. And I'm not saying that we should stop posting about these things on our stories, because like I said, I think they are important, but let's go the extra mile and take action!
I agree! Marching and protesting would also make a big difference! ![]()
I totally agree with this. I think that spreading awareness is very important and that using social media is a great way to do that because of how popular it is. And I also agree that if you make these posts you should feel obligated to take action, to set an influence on people and later generations to help our planet.
I definitely agree. Even though many people attempt to spread awareness through social media, there is much more to be done. Re-posting is only the first step and with out taking action, it does not really make a difference. Those who truly care about making a change should do more than just posting about it.
I agree! I think too many people talk about climate change being bad and needing to make a difference, but then do not take any action themselves. The world is not going to change if all people do is share post about the reality of climate change. People need to do something. Just like you said voting if of age. If you can't vote you can always write letters to representatives in your area. People need to stand up and make a change.
I definitely agree. Now that the conversation has been started, it's time to actually take action. Social media has given us a platform to talk about these issues, and now that it has this attention it's important to actually act on it. We now have an opportunity to make change so we can't put it off, we have to act now. Besides, the longer we put it off, the greater the problem becomes.
I agree, this is a great point. I think when people repost or post in general about environmental problems, they think it's all the need to do. Me included, i think all I can do, is inform people. But everyone has the opportunity to do more than repost. We can organize events and fundraisers etc... Although reposting is a great start.
Thank you for making a great point! Social media has currently been very active about spreading the news on climate change and political awareness. This platform helps inform people about the issues that occur but what should be done about them is not yet commonly spread. Just like you said about voting, signing petitions, and sending emails are simple acts that can make a huge difference. Reposting and spreading awareness is a great start and should be continued along with putting effort to make a change.
