Controversy of buying local foods
Everyone assumes that local foods are better because the transportation emissions are so much lower, but that is not the only thing to be concerned about. If a local farm uses more energy to produce its food, then you aren't really saving CO2 emissions because the emissions could be equal. According to a study that went on at Carnegie Mellon University "Even if local food eliminated all the emissions from transportation, long-distance food produced on a farm with 5 percent lower emissions might actually contribute less to global warming." We should be aware of these things and stay well informed in order to preserve our planet.
