What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

"Aeroponics" as the new way to farm?
A recent article released by Time Magazine describes a new method of farming developed by Caleb Harper, the founder of CITYFarm Research Project, and his team at MIT's Media Lab, which is supposed to make food grow four times as faster than would regularly occur in nature. To accomplish this, they suspend the roots of plants in a "fog chamber" which covers them in a nutrient-rich mist as opposed to regular hydroponics.
Aeroponics is a really interesting idea, so I think this would be our way of farming in the next few decades. This research may solve many humanity's problems like overpopulation (which would be a serious problem in a century) and hunger. Aeroponics also becomes a good place to invest in. I think this project has a big future lying ahead of it.
Thank to Emma F for sharing such an interesting and important information!
