Restoring old overused farmland, instead of cutting down trees, is a way we can reduce carbon footprint. By doing this we could protect trees and keep forest carbon out of the atmosphere. Just by restoring 12% of used farmland, we can feed 200 million people. Just think of how many more millions we could feed if we restored a bigger percentage.

I think this is a great idea!  If we reused farmland instead of cutting down other environments, it would produce more crops and be more environmentally sound.  Also, as I read farther into the article, it described what action the government could take in reducing a nation's carbon footprint.
   It described that if governments legally limited national emissions, that would cause a large part of a nation's carbon footprint to be shaved off, which would lead other people and factories to lower their carbon footprint all around the country, so that would significantly help the nation's carbon footprint for the better.

Wow! That is amazing how such a small percentage could make such a big difference. Many people talk about reusing things such as toilet paper rolls, clothing, and so much more. However, The repurposing of farmland is a very original idea. The only question I have about this is, if the land would still be fertile and still be able to produce more crops. I suppose this would need more research, and I suspect it would be an easy question to answer. If this was possible and successful, then it would be a great way to help the environment, and a HUGE reduction to the nation carbon footprint.
