It's baffling to read the numbers of people all over the world who don't have enough to eat. Especially in America, which is considered the richest nation in the world. Even in states whose economies revolve around agriculture, there are still hundreds of thousands starving and hungry. Today's hunger is different from past examples that people have learned about and heard of. Today's hunger is one that's harder to detect.  We could see someone who’s married, has a job, and is even a little overweight and think to ourselves that person seems to be doing fine. But how do we really know that? America may be considered the richest nation in the world, but in terms of quality of life for the majority of people, America would be one of the poorest. Americans who are considered middle class struggle to put food on the table every day. The cost of food in America has gone up way too much. The Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) barely provides enough money for families to buy food that would last for a month. It's unbelievably cruel to make something so essential  to survival, unobtainable to millions of Americans. It's extremely difficult for the middle class to buy food for their families on top of paying the exorbitant prices of many other necessities like the mortgage, electricity bill, water bill, insurance, and gas. If America is one of the leading agriculture nations and there are millions all over the country starving, where is all the food going? How is there so much food wasted every year?
