In my Carbon Footprint Calculator my food score was far below the average of my region. I think that this is because how much my family composts. According to this website: http://whatcom.wsu.edu/ag/compost/funda … nefits.htm Composting can only benefit our carbon footprint and pollution in our society because instead of throwing food in the trash, where it will just be in a landfill, the composted food decomposes and creates rich soil which can be used to grow more food. This also saves water through the way that decomposed food soil in richer and has more nutrients. Composting food creates a no waste system that create richer, more nutritious soil which in tern creates better fruits and vegetable. In terms on effective societal policy on food, it could be a campaign by governments to encourage composting in restaurants and homes. I think that this would be a very effective food and environmental policy because of how much it would benefit our carbon footprint.
