Food & Hunger

What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?

925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

How to eat wisely?

According to my carbon footprint, besides transportation, food caused A LOT OF carbon. The main reason was I mainly ate meat in last year. In order to decrease my carbon, I decide to cut back on my meat consumption, as well as eat some vegetarian meals from time to time. What's more, I notice that 925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization], so it is important for us to save food tongue

I agree with you. We should definitely be more conscious of the amount of food we consume. According to http://www.wfp.org/hunger/stats, one in every nine people do not have enough food to lead a healthy active life. 13.5 percent of the population is undernourished and 2/3 of that percent is in Asia. You could also decrease your carbon footprint by eating vegetarian meals.

I agree with you, but I have a question, have you ever thought of just eat vegetables, or healthy food, because on my footprint appeared me that I need to eat less meat, so I think that maybe trying to eat vegetables could be wat better. But like Loishuang said, there are 925 million people that don't have enough to eat, so that's something to think about and well, we need to think more like in what kind of "diet" we'll make because I think that is way better a diet which has meat and products like that.
