What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Food & Hunger
HelIo, I'm from Iceland and I would like to disuss food & hunger. I think that people eat too much and throw away too much of food. They buy plenty of food and throw away half of it in the trash, wich is not good. What do you think?
I completely agree, I am from the United States and we waste a lot of food also. We don't always realize it, but countries around the world aren't as fortunate as us and we take it for granted. There is plenty of times where we buy groceries and end up throwing away a third of what we bought and never consumed.
Hey I think that what you think is really good. I come from Colombia South America but live in the US. I've being here in the US for 3 years and Is really good. Where I come from there is a lot of poverty. I saw it with my own eyes. My problem is that I eat a lot because I have a high metabolism so I have to keep eating but I don't like throwing away food because of my experience. So if people are listening or reading this, think 2's before u throw food away.
I agree that this is not a good thing that people are throwing away such a large amount of food. Many people do not realize this but restaurants also throw away large amounts of food which have not even been touched. Restaurants should create a process for them to be able to give left over untouched food to a soup kitchen or a shelter for homeless people.
Hi I'm Paulina from Mexico!
I am agree that we trash a lot of food every day, I think that we have to buy only the amount of food that we are sure to eat, or in case that we want to cook freeze food we should take out only the amount we are going to eat.
I agree with everyone! I'm also from the United States and we waste so much food here. If you don't eat all of your food at a restaurant, then take it to go and eat it the next day. Also, if you have the choice of a buffet, only take as much food as you are going to eat. If it is a true buffet, you will be able to go back and get. Less is more!
I agree with your idea. People buy a lot of food, but actually they can't eat much food. There are much food waste in the world because this. I'm from China. In China there's a project called “Clean Your Plate” Campaign which is encourage people to eat up all the things in their plate or bowl. This campaign isn't mean you need to eat more food. It is in order to tell us to have a suitable choice to order the food. I think it is a great idea. Not only it can save food, but also it can decrease our carbon footprint on the food. There are many people can't eat food in the world. Food is very expensive to them. It's not fair to them if we waste the food so I advise that order the enough food and don't waste the food.
hi, I'm a Chinese and I really agree with your point. Here in China, there are millions of people don't get enough food to eat but many rich people still waste a lot of food. Many rich people bought a lot of food even they can't eat this much. This is so wasteful and unnecessary, we should courage people to save food .
Hi, I am Anson from Guangzhou, China. I totally agree you point and this point made me impressive. Most of people usually buy more food that they can eat. As we know, there are a many people starving and have nothing to eat. Natural resources will eventually be exhausted, we need to economize the food.
