What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?

925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Throwing food away.

We life in a world that is full of contrasts. In some countries people have to deal with hunger and famine, mean while in other countries people eat to much, they deal with obesity and can die because of that. In the developed countries, food waste is a big problem. Today it is considered that 30-50% of the food in the world is trown away. The people that have access to food have to start think more about what they are throwing away. You as a individual can make a change. When you go next time to the supermarket you should only buy suitable amount of food. You can also use leftovers and stop eating when you are full.
