What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Reduce Consumption
A good way to reduce your carbon footprint of you live in countries like the United States is eating less meat or processed meat. A cow produces 70-110kg of methane per year, as timeforchange.org shows. In the US, people eat 1.77 billion lbs of meat per year, which is excessive amounts of methane and other greenhouse gases going into the atmosphere. Not only do the animals release the gases on their own but transporting them and growing their food increases greenhouse gases and creates toxic waste. i understand that not all families can afford to reduce their meat consumption but if you have the money to, try eat locally raised meat or eating more plant based protein.
