Compost is a great way to make sure the food you don't finish doesn't completely go to waste. It is so easy for a family to make a compost bin in their backyard. Compost turns food into fresh soil, which can be used in personal gardens. If people had their own gardens, grown from their own soil, less gas would be let into the atmosphere from shipping and manufacturing of food products.

Gardens take up a lot of space, time, and money; it's not a viable option for many people. However, I do agree that people should compost more. I live in an apartment complex that currently does not have any way to compost. I'm hoping that we can have a composting service that sends out trucks similar to garbage trucks, allowing my community to do its part in reducing waste.

There are compost trucks in many areas, but it is important to make them available to more areas and joint communities. A possible solution could be to rout some of the spending currently used on garbage services towards making compost trucks more widely available, as well as raising awareness about their importance and availability.

Composting is a simple and relatively easy idea that could really help to make our environment and practices more sustainable. However, like some other comments mentioned, it is a little harder to achieve when there is not much support for it in a community, for example, if compost is not collected. If every person starts to make a small change in order to promote composting, there is a better chance that the practice will spread and create more public awareness so that changes can be made throughout our areas.

I agree with the statement that composting can make our environment more sustainable. Since it is difficult for some people to access a compost bin of their own at home, there should be some way to make them more accessible and as available as trash cans are. Doing this would be beneficial to soil and growing new foods as well as other plants, and could reduce landfill amounts. As O'Dowd does, it would be awesome to see more composting bins in other places, especially places where food is commonly sold/being thrown away.

I agree that composting is a good way to reduce waste going into the trash. It is relatively easy to research how to make a compost spot in your backyard and even if you live in an apartment you can have a small compost bin. As ecowatch.com explains, All you need is a small container, water, shredded paper, worms and of course your food scraps.

I am 100% pro- compost. Not only does compost minimize the amount of food waste going into the trash, but it helps to improve soil quality and crop yields. The amount of chemical fertilizers being used to increase crop outputs has increased, posing threats to nearby water sources and the crops that are being grown.  Chemicals can build up in our soil, contaminating our fruits and vegetables; This could have a negative effect economically, as more money was spent to grow the defective crop than what the crop brought in as profit.  Virtually anything can be composted, except for dairy and bread products. Like Rio G stated, it is relatively easy to compost and the quality of fruits and vegetables being grown is exceptional, which will overall improve the health of the populations consuming them.
