What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Wasteful
I learned to be very thankful for the food I get to eat. I'm fortunate to be able to eat whenever I want have a variety of choices. I think that by being aware of how much food we waste will help. I go to a camp in the summer and the food is served family style. They tell us to only take as much as we can eat. Then at the end of the night the whole camp as a whole weigh how much food they've wasted. It's very eye opening and usually by the end of the week the amount of wasted food is much lower. An article I read stated that the average person in North America and Europe waste 209 to 253 pound of food each year. Also that the food wasted could feed us for two months. The article also says 1/3 of food made for human consumption is lost.
