What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Alternate Food Sources
I saw in a National Geographic study that 8.8 kilos of feed is only converted to 1 kilo of beef. For fish, 1.1 kilos is converted to 1 kilo of fish. Depending on species, some insects can have an efficiency of 1.025 to 1 of feed to edible mass. This would make eating insects and fish a much more efficient way to get protein. Additionally, fish and insects do not release any methane when they digest. Any thoughts?
Insects can also be grown in mass production. Crickets, for example, can be grown on things like cat food or dog food. Crickets are also a great source of nutrition, and are already used in some protein bars and other food items. However, I would be careful of fish, as certain species, such as salmon, are endangered and shouldn't be fished for.
