Food & Hunger

What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?

925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Help Hunger

Food is an essential that every person needs to stay healthy. Lots of people are hungry, I read an article about hunger and it said that out of the whole population (7 billion people) one out of eight people go to bed hungry and one out of three children are underweight because of being malnourished. People that live in poverty can not afford healthy food and because of this children are chronically malnourished and "stunted". Also with climate change, it is harder to grow crops which means that there will be less food which then goes back to hunger. We can stop hunger by not wasting food and always donating food to people that need it. Anything can make a difference!

I also think that we should only buy the food we are going to eat so nothing goes to waste. This will help because we will be buying less food, and therefore wasting less food. We should all think about the people affected by hunger when we are buying and excess amount of food.
