What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Reduce and Reuse
Food is important and vital for your body, but wasting is not. When you have left overs from dinner, consider taking them for lunch or eating them for dinner again. This will help you have less waste and have another meal all ready to eat. Also it helps save money and the environment by allowing less trips to the grocery store and since you have food you don't need to buy more for the day!
I agree! Saving the leftovers from meals is a great way to reduce the amount of waste we produce and this way you don't need to buy or make as many meals. Another great way to reuse is by composting food scraps. This way the food can be reused to give the soil the nutrients it needs to support future life.
These are all really great ideas. Another way to reduce food waste is if you are going out to dinner at a restaurant, think about sharing a meal if you know you will not be able to finish it all. Also, another way to help those who are hungry and are less fortunate, is to support and eat at restaurants that give their leftovers to the homeless and food banks. This way food won't get wasted and people will benefit. For instance, Sliver Pizzeria in Berkeley, California donates all of their leftover food.
I agree^ I have a compost at home that were we throw out our scrapes and also if you have chickens or other kinds of animals that eat leftovers, its great to give it to them so you know its not going to waste. Also another way is making a new meal out of the leftovers that you have.
