Food & Hunger

What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?

925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

3rd World Countries

Most, if not all third world countries are starving and dying, and might not even have enough food for even the youngest to survive.  We need to not waste food because that wasted food could have went to a person more needing of it.

I agree we make or just simply waste a lot a food a day. instead of only eating or making the right amount of food for your self instead of wasting it because theres man kids and countries that don't even have half the food we have a day or don't even have food at all.So I agree theres many countries and people that are starving.

Yes, this luxury we have with plentiful food is sometimes corrupting us because of how  much freedom we have.  We need to change this for the better.

The problem here is that our uneaten food doesn't actually go to other countries, it just goes into the trash. I think if we really want to help these 3rd world countries we shouldn't care so much about how much we waste we should donate money to organizations that actually provide food and services to these countries

We need to help third world countries develop enough to be able to support themselves with the basic needs. The only way we can make the population growth sustainable is to help the developing countries. Families keep having children because the child mortality rate was high. One it started to decrease, families kept having a lot of children. They need the proper education about family planning and health care and the necessary resources to live healthy to decrease the child mortality rate, increase life expectancy, and decrease family sizes. Developing countries have bigger family sizes than developed countries do. We need to change this by educating people and providing resources.

I totally agree with this because the U.S. over produces creating a large amount of waste that can't go into helping someone else that actually would benefit from it. I think that the problem starts with our country forcing third world countries to grow feed for our cattle for meat consumption rather than using their land to grow food for themselves.
