A study shows that 40% of all food in america is wasted do to not eating it or using it.  To put a dollar on it that is 165 billion dollars worth of food going into our local land fills.  these release green house gasses such as methane and other green house gasses that are increasing the rate of global warming.  We could cut this down dramatically if we would simply eat leftovers more often and actually buy what we will eat.

Adding onto that, the Food Waste Production Alliance has found that 44% of food waste comes from residents and 20% from full-time restaurants. They recommend that households and restaurants reduce overall the amount of food that they take in. They have also set a goal to increase the amount of healthy foods being supplied to those in need, rather than them eating unhealthy chain brands. Finally, they recommend to recycle or compost all leftover food or packaging instead of putting it in the trash.

I completely agree with you. We should definitely try to not waste as much food as we do now. When food is growing there is already a lot of food being wasted as it is. Weeds, insects, and diseases are the main causes of crop waste. As the carbon dioxide level increased, weeds have sprouted up in new areas and habitats.  The more carbon dioxide there is the less crops we will have because of all the new weeds. Studies show that weeds had the largest percentage of ruining crops. The  United States itself spends more than $11 billion buying herbicides to get rid of the weeds.  The cost and amount of herbicides are just going to go up as the carbon dioxide levels rise.  As the carbon dioxide level rises more chemicals and sprays will be used to get rid of the weeds and insects. This means that there is going to be more economic and environmental costs with chemicals. Especially in California when there has been a drought, it is very dry it is very hard to grow food and not waste. When we are wasting food, we don't realize that there was already so much more food being waste d with nobody even eating them .
More rainfall is expected to happen in the northern part of the United States. The more rainfall there really is, the more the soil will be eroded . As soil is eroded, the nutrients are being taken away, and less soil mean less crops. To grow crops we need both soil and water.As the tempurature increases, the more water will evaporate, and the more soil will be eroded. Soil is the key in other ecosystems services such as the provision of food, wood, cotton, and support for roads and buildings.
