When one thinks of the diet of a body builder, one generally thinks of consumption of protein rich foods, and what easier way to get your protein through meat. Meat is everywhere. However, ex bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger, along with movie director James Cameron, are speaking out against the consumption of meat (http://wildaid.org/news/james-cameron-a … onsumption). They say that it gives them more energy, as well as cuts down their own emission.

This is all quite interesting to me because Arnold Schwarzenegger used to be a body builder and body builders live off of meat. Coming from such a lifestyle  and diet that comes with body building, he must have had an enlightenment about meat consumption. I believe that if one of the most famous body builders of all time can have such a large change in opinion, maybe other meat eaters' opinions can be changed as well.

I think visibility is extremely important when it comes to social justice issues as well as environmental issues. Having a public figure, and unfortunately presidential candidate, Donald Trump denying the existence of global warming heavily impacts the public negatively, feeding them with buzzwords and simple phrases with absolute no credibility. When large figures, even body builders who previously depended on meat, speak out about the problems, the public is more exposed to the issues. That's why many organizations and public figures are using social media to communicate ideas-- there are many viral videos of animal abuse or injustices towards animals that spur anger from people all over the globe. Just recently, the city of Montreal "banned pitbulls" and the entire internet went platanos. There is a huge power in being a public figure, and they should use their platform to educate the public on issues, especially environmental issues.
