This is true (the fact about excess food), and since so much of the food wasted that could be composted never gets to be, it makes for more and more good food to end up at the dump. I agree with you, but I also think that we should make it easier to donate food (and not just canned/non-perishable goods) and make it easier to compost food as well. If we make it easy to donate real food to the "restaurants" and other food banks. And if you look at the source below you can see the amount of food that is wasted from people, companies, stores, and even farming companies. Another solution would be to lower the production of livestock in the US and around the world. By making more vegan-friendly and vegetarian-friendly options, it would make the excess amounts of food not going into feeding these animals go into feeding ourselves for a lower cost, which could help the worldwide problem of hunger around the world along with problems such as obesity by making fruits and vegetables cheaper and more available to people.
