925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Hunger and Poverty
Almost half the world is living in a state of poverty, or close to it. Most of these countries are not developed which means wealth is not distributed to a big part of the population. A constantly changing economy, lack of education, epidemic diseases, and environmental issues are all factors that contribute to poverty. Poverty often leads to hunger, and this adds up on a bigger scale. Although it may seem like there is not much that can be done about this issue, every contribution helps.
Although this problem can’t be solved overnight, it is important to take it one step at a time. One thing many people can do to help is donations. Whether it be food or cash, donating even a little can aid organisations in raising funds to help. People living on donations cannot rely on that forever, and there are organisations to help impoverished families become self sufficient and afford the food that is necessary. Another way to help impoverished families living in urban areas, is urban gardening. Rec ently this has grown in popularity and this helps greatly.
Birth control education may seem off topic, but in reality many of these impoverished families were not educated on contraceptives or reproduction and therefore could not have the financial ability to support themselves. Overpopulation is a large factor into world hunger. Education in underdeveloped countries is crucial to ending world hunger because is provides opportunity for a stable life. In addition many of these people in underdeveloped countries do not have options because often these countries are at war, but if the people start to pressure their government into ending conflict there will be room to focus on the fundamental issues within the country. Overall the process to ending world hunger will be slow and difficult but over time it can be accomplished.
