What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Organic vs. Nonorganic Food
After calculating my carbon footprint, I became aware that our dietary options actually affect our carbon emissions. For example, organic food requires less carbon dioxide because it is modified less. On the other hand, bio-genetically modified food releases more carbon dioxide due to the extra processes needed to fix the food. I never realized that our food options determine how much energy is used to produce them. Now I am aware why eating cleaner and healthier food is important because natural food growth promotes greater environmental positivity. Organic produce promotes the Earth’s environment because natural food growth gives nutrients back.
