Our world Population is about 7.5 billion people, but 795 million of those people do not have enough to eat. About 98% of the world's hungry people live in developing countries. Which includes Asia (525.6 million in hunger), Sub-Saharan Africa (214 million in hunger), and Latin America and the Caribbean (37 million in hunger).
60% of the hungry are women and 50% of the pregnant women, about 300,000 maternal deaths are caused due to lack of proper maternal care.
Each day, nearly 1,000 children die due to preventable water and sanitation-related diarrheal diseases.
22,000 children die each day due to conditions of poverty.
I think that Poverty and Hunger on earth is vitally important. Thousands of children die each day because they do not have enough to eat or cannot get proper medical care. We take food for granted here and we need to learn to stop that. In the USA, 30-40% of the food supply is wasted, equaling more than 20 pounds of food per person per month. Disease is one thing and can be helped and treated with, but Hunger is larger and lot harder to fix. The few children who were lucky enough to survive childbirth, then have to suffer from low nutrition and weight. Which results in a bad immune system which is prone to fight the diseases. It’s a slow and painful death no one should endure.

Dear Francesca, thank you for your passionate statement. I totally agree with you that huger is a big problem, and with climate change it will likely get even worse. What do you see as the path forward for addressing both climate change and poverty simultaneously?
