What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Food And Hunger
The reason why 925 million people on Earth don't have enough food to eat is because most of our grains turn into feed for animals like cows. That causes the prices of grains to go up and in some countries it isn't very easy to make money. We can help reduce this problem by going meatless on Mondays or even several days of the week. It will help many starving people around the world.
The industry of producing meat from cows and other livestock is one of the main causes of Global Warming and global hunger. Thus, I agree with you. Even though there are facts about the impact food has on the Carbon Footprint and peoples health, few websites seem to have any information on the fact that these numbers are high because of food industries (where the meat is coming from) rather than just ‘food’. When we think of 'food' and its impact, we do not take into account that 'food' most likely means 'the food industry' which, mostly means the production of beef. You can see the impact 'food' has on large places when looking at the USA (8805 is the ‘food’ number given), Canada (9909 is the ‘food’ number given), and Russia (8129 is the ‘food’ number given). These, are just three examples of different places and their food count. However, it is unclear what these exact numbers mean according to food. Overall, it would be beneficial for the awareness of the impact that the food industry has, if these numbers were sorted into 'impact of food industry', 'consumption of fo od', and 'process of buying food'. By doing this, people could see what exactly they are doing which is leading to people not have enough food. This would shed light on how big the consumption of beef is in our world. Moreover, sorting out how to stop making such a negative impact on our world would become more clear and thus, help stop global issues such as hunger.
