Food & Hunger

What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?

925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

How to Help with Food and Hunger

I think we should try to limit our meat intake, eat all our food, and be more effective with irrigation and drip systems.

I found that my carbon footprint for food was very low because I am pescatarian and the only meat I eat is seafood. There is no extra water needed to feed seafood because they live in the ocean so it helps conserve water. Also, less greenhouse gases are released into the atmosphere.

I agree. Additionally, we should try to eat food regardless of appearance. While there are many companies that help with the distribution of "ugly" food, I believe that we should try and eat food, even if it is misshapen.
