What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Food and Hunger
People in the U.S. are so lucky and privileged to have so much food and sometimes we have more food than we need. Students at my school are so lucky to be able to purchase breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Other people in the world are not as privileged and lucky as we are and miss breakfast, lunch, or dinner or they do not even eat until the next day. We should be careful what we eat and how much we serve ourselves on our plate so that we do not have to throw away any extra food. By saving food, we might give another person around the world a chance to eat something before they go to sleep. Another thing that we can do is help out and feed the poor. Students can get together as groups and help out to feed the homeless or centers for homeless people who need help.
