What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Food & Hunger
I learned from using the footprint calculator that I eat less than half the people in my region normally eat. First off, I find this strange because I never realized that I ate that little. I have always thought I eat a reasonable amount of food. Though when thinking about it, I also realize that it could be due to the fact that many people over eat. Over eating can contribute to world hunger, many people eat way more than what their body should in take and also end up wasting their food more often. I feel like I wish there was a more effective way to bring attention to the matter. Many people talk about world hunger being such a big issue, yet go forward and waste their food. America has an abundant amount of resources. Along with many other advanced countries. The easy access to resources causes over eating to happen more. According to World Hunger there is enough food to feed everyone on the planet. If the more advanced countries helped share resources then world hunger would be a less severe problem. Secondly, I see a possible solution that some people already contri bute to, yet I think more should, they just may not be aware of the possibility. Instead of spending extra money on buying more food, they should pocket the money and donate it to an organization. There are many different ones, some cause you to be more involved than others, so it all depends on what a person is able to commit to. There is the possibility to decrease world hunger dramatically if people, no matter the age, start to take action.
