Food & Hunger

What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?

925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

we are lucky to have 3 meals a day, especially when some people can't even afford 1. wasting food is like disrespecting those who can't afford it. we should put respectable amounts of food on our plates in order to save what we would not eat, in other words get only what you need. many people don't even know where their next meal is going to come from and live through hunger their whole lives.  if yo don't finish, don't throw your food away, bring it home and have it later. preventing hunger may be a bigger thing than it seems, but even just donating to food banks can make an impact on someone else's life.
