Food & Hunger

What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?

925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

World Hunger

Nowadays, world hunger has become a serious issue among the world. In some countries, poor people can not obtain enough nutritious food for themselves and their families. As a result, about 1.02 billion people in the developing countries are undernourished. Fortunately, we can have the opportunity to get food as much as we want so we need to think about how to not waste food. We should only buy what we need and take the leftover home or give them to the homeless when we eat in the restaurant. If everyone can do so, the world hunger can at least be solved a little bit.

I agree with you, I think that not many people understand the gravity of world hunger. Although there may not currently be any technology that can help to solve world hunger, we should start to think of ways to help bring sustainable farming to under-developed countries. In the mean time, I agree that we should try to waste less food and become more conscious of the food we are wasting.
