What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Food & Hunger
From using the footprint calculator, I have learned how much of an impact food makes on my carbon footprint. After learning about this, I will make sure to be more conscious of where my food comes from, because if food, more specifically meat, is locally and organically grown, then the carbon emissions will be greatly reduced. An effective societal policy on food I would make would be to raise living standards for cattle and using less pesticides and antibiotics in all food. This would firstly help improve human health. Another way would to create government or volunteer programs that educated farmers in areas of need and help them to sustain themselves and their towns or villages. This might be even more beneficial than just donating food because they would be independent.
