What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!
Food & Hunger >
Fast-Food
Since I’ve found this project, I’ve realised that I’m leaving a big carbon footprint, just by eating from restaurants and Fast-Foods.
I’m sure everyone ate, atleast 1 time, Fast-Food, with friends or even when you were in a hurry. Let’s just think about the cheap oil they are using, how much electricity, consumed by the instruments they are using to heat the meat, or the fries, all of them have a big impact on our planet and even on the environment, because of the smell that food is leaving in and out of the Fast-Food restaurants.
I would like to add a way to reduce the carbon footprint made by food generally talking. In my opinion, the healthy food should never be out of our daily routine, because it’s a good way to improve the health of our planet and even ours, because no oils would be used for food (which Fast-Food restaurants are using all day) and we can easily reduce our footprint just by eating healthy food. In addition, you could think about having a fruit or a sandwich in a bag, because there are some moments when you are in hurry and you are hungry and the y would be the best way to reduce the carbon consumption and to have a good meal.
