What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Don't waste
I that we should not waste as much food. Reuse as munch as you can instead of wasting it all. If we use food then that less gas used to traveled to the Grocery store and less fumes put in the air by factories.
You right.
My grandmother had an old saying: "waste not want not". I feel like if we are careful with the resources that we have, it will be better for everyone involved. We will save money on gas, we will save money on food, we will save time from having to make more trips to the store, and we will not be throwing away perfectly good stuff. I believe that if we all try just a little bit, we can get in to good habits and start to reverse the effect of Carbon Dioxide on our planet.

It is sad to see people wasting food when there are so many people around the world that don't have food to eat. I live in Ecuador where my neighbors come to our house every day because they are hungry and don't have any food. I think we need to eat all the food we take instead of being greedy and then throwing it away.
I heard that 50% of food in the US is thrown away! It's sad.
I agree and think that we need to only get food if we are going to eat it especially knowing the amount of hungry people around the world. Wasting food is wrong and people should take advantage of being in a good situation and should think of other less fortunate people and the environment before wasting food.
I agree wasting food is a bad thing we should eat relatively healthy food
I read a national geographic on food waste and the us alone throws away over 50% of food that could be eaten before it even reaches stores simply because of light bruises or un-appealing looks. then even more food is thrown away at the store as well to make displays look fresher and prettier, and THEN about 30% of the food we buy ends up in the trash/yard waste. It really i pretty shocking how much food is thrown away in a world where poverty and hunger and climate change is such a big issue.
people just need to compost
Agree, we waste a lot of food and we should try to limit it
I agree that we do waste a lot of food. I think that when we are eating we should take a little and then if we are still hungry then we should get a little more food to cut down on waste.
