What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

More plant fields
Now ofcourse there are alot of people starving and we want to help them as soon as we can but that won't solve anything, because they'll only waste their provisions and end up where we started to begin with. What we need to be doing is get the back on their feet and get them to try and take care of themselves, I know I sound kind of heartless but it is the truth. You know it is! They'll have to plant corn since it literally is the fastest growing plant and it can be grown in hot places and live off of it for a while, and eventually start planting potatoes, carrots, radishes or something on a 4 year cycle like most other farms. This is just a solution that will work for a poor and starving country. The best solution is if they solve it themselves.
I understand where you are coming from, but some people truly aren't capable of solving their own problems. In 2015 an enormous survey was taken finding almost 565,000 people homeless, and 25% of that to be people who are seriously mentally ill. These people need help from others to get them on their feet. Even though some people want to believe that everybody is capable of "pulling themselves up from their boot straps," not everyone is in a situation where they are given the chance to.
