What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Hunger
We need to stop wasting food because food goes a long way. My policy would be to save left over food and recreate it into meals that feed the less fortunate. It would help more people get the food they need to survive.
That is an interesting idea... How would we preserve our leftover food? I think we should just take a portion of our meal before we ate it, and put it in some sort of transportation device that distributes the food equally and fair around the world. Another problem with food waste is the packaging that it is in. In the US, we use so much plastic for packaging which takes a long time to decompose. We should focus on a way to create less waste when we package our food as well.
Both of these are great suggestions. I also feel that we could cut down on waste by not taking or making more than we'll eat, and also eating everything on your plate. I've been at several camps that counted food waste, and it was surprising how much leftover food there actually was.
