What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Food Waste
A lot of people do not realize how much food is wasted everyday. About 95 percent of the food we throw away ends up in landfills or combustion facilities. In 2014, we disposed of more than 38 million tons of food waste. To reduce the amount of food waste we can take however much food you can eat (meaning do not get extra if you aren't going to eat it), donate food, look at expiration dates and save leftovers. If you follow these rules we can save money and provide for those who don't have enough food.
