Food & Hunger

What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?

925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Reducing Food waste

emmaprice123

About 795 million people on the planet don't have enough food to have a healthy life. Thats one in nine people! Here in the U.S, 40% of food/ food waste is thrown out. Think of all the people in other parts of the world that could benefit from that. If we cut down on the amount of food we produce, would be helping not only other people, but the environment as well. A good option is going vegetarian or vegan. Even trying to cut down on buying red meat at home helps.
