What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Growing your own food
It's not as hard as it sounds, and it’ll eliminate the huge carbon footprint of the refrigerated trucks and planes importing fruits from across the globe. Sounds good to me!
I strongly agree with this I experimented this one summer at my house. It was hard work at first but as the fruits and vegetable started to grow it became less of a task. In addition to this, not only does the food come from your own back yard, it tastes good also !
I agree with this. If everyone grew their own food their would also be less CO2
Not only will growing your own food “eliminate the huge carbon footprint of the refrigerated trucks and planes” but it will be healthier for the environment in other immediate ways. If we only buy food locally and grow our own food, we are likely to become more vegetarian consumers than meat eaters. This will also decrease the amount of CO2 being emitted in the air because meat emits more CO2 than any vegetables do, as well as after we’ve consumed it, we emit more CO2! Vegetables, fruits = healthy environment and less CO2!
Growing your own food has so many impactful benefits. Food that you purchase from them store is often packed with chemicals, such as taste enhancers and preservatives. By growing your food at home, you can be sure that the food you’re eating is safe and healthy, and not to mention it decreases your carbon footprint because you don't have to use carbon to get to the store, and you don't have packaging that you have to throw away. You know exactly what goes into your food at home, with makes it all worth it.
Growing your own food has incredible impacts, but what if you live in an apartment or space around your house is not a great area for growing food? Growing food can immensely decrease your carbon footprint. This is really beneficial and great for the environment. Also what if you don't know how to grow food or don't have a green thumb?
