Food & Hunger

What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?

925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Food and waste

When you food that is packaged or in a container that you could throw away is producing a lot of waste in the world. When you eat food you should try to reuse what it was packaged if if you can because that would save a lot of waste.  Also the food that you have try not to let it go to waste don't just throw it away try to compost it or give it to others so that you are not wasting food. You can also try to grow your own food or eat more organic things and that can also help to the problem.

I totally agree with you, Elizabeth. I desire to grow a garden and have ready organic produce a step away. It uses less packaging and educates our families about waste and the environment. In addition, how we balance our waste is extremely important. Do you have any ways to grow produce with little land space? Or how we can reduce our waste overtime instead of piling it up at once? Thanks!
