What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Food Scraps
When we eat food, most of the time we throw many scraps away that we do not finish; at least, I know I do. After I used the calculator and found out how much CO2 that I was producing because of my waste, it made me think about what myself and other people could do to not waste as much food on a daily basis. I think that instead of wasting all of that food, we should try to reuse it in some way. I remember watching something on 60 minuets about a farmer who takes food scraps out of casinos in Las Vegas, desensitizes the food by cooking it, and then feeds that food to his pigs. If we could invent something or find some way to make this process happen more and spread it, then our wasted food might not just be thrown away.
