Food & Hunger

What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?

925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Better ways to ways to get rid of unwanted food

Composting is a good way to get rid of food related waste. It can definitely help out the environment and it doesn’t add to the mountains of trash building up in the dump. My family uses egg shells, coffee grounds, and fruit peels as fertilizer for our plants.

I think that this is a great idea. The idea of composting is good and it could also help with a long decomposition process. If all that food and waste isn't just sitting in a dump the planet might have benefits for all living organism, not just humans.

This is a good idea that everyone should start adapting to sooner or later. I think it would overall reduce the food wasted in landfills and put it to better use. People should start composting especially if they have plants or crops since it is a good alternative to fertilizer.
