What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Do we have to throw out the food?
We don“t have to throw out the food in the trash. You can give some food to your pets for example. And when you throw out the food, throw it in the organic trash.
I agree and we could buy only what we need, so as to avoid waste
I agree. People waste food everyday and instead of throwing in out we could dispose of it correctly or find another use for it.
But some food is bad for your health if it's moldy. I agree with @sophia but you can't eat around the moldy part in foods like bread. But @gind says we should buy what we need, so the issue can be combated. And this brings in another topic... What about the supermarkets? They can't just buy what they need, if they do that they will close because their selection is terrible. Maybe stricter laws on food waste?
Yeah you're right. Eating mold isn't good for your health. Stricter food laws would be a good idea, but what would they be and how would we enforce them?
I don't support throwing out food- it's wasteful for people who probably would've needed the food compared to you and it takes up unnecessary space in your trash can. Recycling the food into composition if possible is the betters answer. Or trying to make a dish out of the leftover food is also a good choice.
