Food & Hunger

What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?

925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

What's worse?

Recently I have given up red meat and it's supposed to help the planet. But what I started thinking about is if it's worse if meat is given to me and if I don't eat it wouldn't it be worse? Since another of the big problems with food sustainability is that 58% all food produced in Canada is either lost or wasted, wouldn't it be better if I did did eat meat when it is already offered to me, or would it be contradictory and give others the idea that I eat meat on a regular basis and would end up potentially hurting animals and the environment more?
