What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Hunger
One of the biggest reasons for hunger throughout the world is that humans are overly consuming food. We are now starting to get shortages of food because humans just over consume food. One other reasons is humans also waste food that could be good to feed somebody that was very hungry and needed something. The geographic location of a bunch of these people are bad for getting food too. Some people like in Africa have to travel 4 miles just to get the supply of food they need to cook dinner that night to feed their family. We only have to travel 2 minutes and we are at a grocery store getting food that we probably will not eat some of and waste it. I would have to limits on food buying so we were able to use that food to feed other people. This policy would probably work because it gives people the understanding of children and there families dying because of hunger.
I agree that a lot of places are overeating because over 650 million adults were obese and there are lots of kids all over the world that don't get any food at all, but there are also people eating enough to feed 3 people in one meal. An issue we would run into is that if we wanted to say build a grocery store in a developing country, the cost of the food would not be close to the cost of ours, because they would have to make up the cost of the building, and then make money, so not only is it world hunger its poverty. ![]()
