What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Eat Less Meat
By eating less meat, you can reduce your carbon footprint, have a healthier diet, and and save money. The process of making meat, especially beef, takes a lot of time, resources, and emits lots of carbon into the atmosphere. Animals need to be fed, have water, and space. Their respiration adds carbon to the atmosphere, and when they are killed for meat, unused parts decompose releasing carbon. Not eating also has health benefits. Vegetarians have a lower risk of heart disease, having a stroke, and type 2 diabetes. They also tend to have lower cholesterol levels and blood pressure. As meat can be expensive, eating meat substitutes like beans, tofu, and impossible meat is more cost efficient. Many people go vegetarian because of ethical reasons. Many animals are raised solely for being meat. They live in very inhuman conditions, and they are overcrowded and given antibiotics to promote weight gain, some animals have so many antibiotics that they are unable to suppor t their own weight. Additionally, these animals are killed very young. Eating less meat is a very easy change to make, and even having a few vegetarian days a week make a big difference.
I agree. Vegetarians are a lot healthier than meat lovers. These people get diagnosed with less disease. There are people who work long days to harvest the meat and they have to provide the animal with the correct weight. These animals go through torcher then they just get slaughtered one by one. It is true that many of these animals live in very small places where even humans do not want to live.
I definitely agree. Many people do not understand the impact of eating beef, pork, or other types of meat can make. Becoming a vegetarian can for sure help climate change and even if you're not a vegetarian, ,you don't have to become one, just eat a meal with no meat 2 days out of the week and that is also very helpful to the climate change. Rasing animal for food consumes more than half of all the water used in the US. It takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce a pound of wheat. As you can see this definitely impacts climate change a lot, and so it is important to eat as less meat as possible.
