What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

eat mindfully
When planning your meals over the course of the week be mindful of the proportions, the type of protein you choose to be part of your diet, and the natural implications of the ingredients you use . For example Palm oil is a leading cause of deforestation in rainforest around the globe. Furthermore when you begin shopping you should always be aware of where your food is scorced. Buying from local farm is not only good for your local economy but it also cuts past the carbon emissions of all the trucks, airplanes, and trains it took to get your food onto your plate. Planning however only goes so far, you could be completely vegan and ingredient aware, but if you dump half your food every night you are still part of the problem. Start a composting pile, bring reusable containers to restaurants, and serve responsibly. There are so many easy ways to reduce your Carbon Footprint through food, make a commitment however small and see it through. Food doesn’t have to be part of the problem, make it a solution.
