What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

what foods to eat
When I calculated my total cabin footprint, I was shocked to see how much of an impact eating meat had on my carbon footprint. This behavior increased my emissions in the food category significantly. However, I do not drink milk or eat lots of dairy, which decreased my carbon emissions for the food category. I have also learned that eating locally reduces your carbon emissions as well. Overall, if you are looking for ways to cut down on your carbon footprint, there are ways that are very easy to change your lifestyle like buying locally and limiting your meat intake.
I noticed that I also had a lot of cabin coming from the food I eat, particularly meat. Although I recognize this and think it is bad, but I would like to continue eating meat. I wonder what some alternative meat or fish are and what they would do to my overall carbon food print. I think along with changes in the meat i eat, eating more local food could also help, possibly even prioritizing local over organic.
This paragraph is very helpful for people who need to figure out what foods are increasing their footprints. I as well don't drink milk, which decreased my carbon footprint, but this does not mean I don't have other dairy foods. I also try to eat locally grown food, but it depends because it is often hard to find foods that are locally grown, and not sprayed with pesticides. Watching the foods you eat closely can defiantly decrease your carbon footprint. Also watching the animal products you eat can decrease your footprint by a lot.
