Many students using our footprint calculator said that they could not pledge to reduce their home footprints because they were not making the decisions for the household. Here is your chance to design your own sustainable virtual household!
If you had your own home, what would you do to make it more energy efficient? Where would you get your electricity from? Where would your house be? Would you live near to your school or work or local transit options? Where would you get your food from?

My Family Footprint
My family has started to make some switches in order to become more eco friendly. My dad is always reminding us to turn off the lights or close the garage door behind us in order to conserve energy. Additionally to saving a little bit more energy we have also made some steps in order to prevent water waste. We pull our car up onto the lawn when were are washing it so that the water that runs off the car goes towards watering the lawn and not just down the drain. We have started manage our laundry more efficiently in order to comserve as much water we can. In the drought that California is facing right now every little bit of saving helps and if everyone became a little bit more efficient then it could make a huge difference. While my family has made steps to becoming more green there is always room for improvement and we can still do even more to help leave a smaller footprint.
