MY Family Footprint

Many students using our footprint calculator said that they could not pledge to reduce their home footprints because they were not making the decisions for the household. Here is your chance to design your own sustainable virtual household!

If you had your own home, what would you do to make it more energy efficient? Where would you get your electricity from? Where would your house be? Would you live near to your school or work or local transit options? Where would you get your food from?

My Family's Improved Footprint

I believe that in the past years my family wasn't as "green" as we are now. Before, we didn't own a recycling bin, never reused plastic bags, didn't carpool, and rarely ate locally grown or organic food. Now, we have decreased the amount of carbon emitted by recycling more often (in our own recycling bin).
My family began to start reusing plastic bags from supermarkets, or bringing our own reusable shopping bags. We also began to carpool more often to sports games, service projects, and to many other events. Lastly, we began to buy organic food, and sometimes we would go to some nearby farmer's markets.
